    Final Results

    AMHERST, Mass. - Junior Ryan McGuirefinished second to lead the University of Connecticut men's cross country team to a third-place finish at the Minutemen Invitational at the University of Massachusetts Wysocki Fields in Amherst, Mass. The race was the season opener for UConn.

    UMass won the race with a total of 39 points while UConn earned third with 81 points.

    McGuire ran a time of 24:24.37 and finished less than four seconds behind the race-winning pace of 24:20.90 set by UMass' Anthony Taylor.

    UConn senior Jordan Magath also posted a solid time of 24:31.59 to finish sixth. Classmates Alex Bennatan (25:23.16) and Joe Clark(25:26.94) also placed in the top-30.

    The Huskies will continue the 2012 season at the Central Connecticut Ted Owens Invitational on Saturday, September 22. The race will begin at 11 a.m. at Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain, Conn.
