UConn Finishes Second At UMass Invitational

Amherst, Mass. - The University of Connecticut men's cross country team took home a second place finish at the UMass Invitational today, the second-consecutive runner up finish for the Huskies this season.

UMass won the race with 47 points, UConn had 51, Maine 70, Vermont 78 and Amherst 99.

UConn had four top-10 finishers during the meet, the highest of any team at the race, led by Ryan McGuire (Orange, Conn.) who had a sixth place finish with a time of 25:23.

Finishing just behind McGuire was Nick Aguila (West Hartford, Conn.) who placed seventh with a time of 26:02.

Jordan Magath (Hillsborough, N.J.) and Daniel Francoeur (West Hartford, Conn.) rounded out the top-10 UConn finishers, placing ninth (26:09) and tenth (26:10) respectively.

Placing 19th for the Huskies was Christain Kearns (Ridgefield, Conn.) in a time of 26:37, and was followed by Alex Bennatan who finished 32nd in 27:15 and Artem Skobrev who placed 34th (27:22).

Dan Bubniak (Danbury, Conn.), Calvin Carrasco (Durham, Conn.) and Joe Clark rounded out the UConn runners, finishing 38th (27:35), 43rd (28:00) and 47th (28:37) respectively.

UConn returns to action next Saturday (Sept. 25) when they take part in the Ted Owens Invitational hosted by Central Connecticut University in New Britain, Conn. The race is set to begin at 12:00 noon.
