Men's Cross Country Claims First Place At Ted Owen Invitational

Greg Roy's team posted five top-10 finishes on Saturday

NEW BRITAIN, Conn.- The UConn men’s cross country team posted five top-10 finishes en route to capturing the first place crown at the CCSU Ted Owen Invitational on Saturday afternoon at Stanley Quarter Park. Connecticut finished the afternoon’s 8k race with 23 points, followed by Boston University (60), CCSU (74), Hartford (105) and Rhode Island (112) rounding out the top five.

Michael O’Donnell was the first Husky to cross the finish line, as he posted a time of 26:18. Also registering top-five finishes were Alvaro Chavez (26:21) and David Cotton (26:23). Boston University’s Alex Olson captured first place in the race, finishing with a time of 26:10.

Stephen Vento and Edward Wilson, finished sixth and eighth, respectively, for head coach Greg Roy. Alex Levine grabbed 12th place to round out the top-15 finishers for the Huskies.

The team has now recorded two first-places finishes in its two invitationals this fall after claiming first at the UMass Invite on September 14th.Connecticut took first place with 63 points as the Huskies averaged a time of 19:41.73.

The Huskies return to action on October 12th at the New England Championships in Boston, Massachusetts.
