BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The University of Connecticut men's cross country team finished 38th at the 41st annual Paul Short Run on Saturday at Lehigh University.
The Huskies checked in at No. 38 in the Men's Gold 8K race with 990 total points, headlined by a 156th-place finish by freshman Parker Timmerman (25:41). The U.S. Naval Academy came away with the victory, tallying 95 points and five top-25 finishers.
Fellow freshman Owen Gonser followed up Timmerman with a 196th-place finish (25:50), while Patrick Begley (25:57) and Michael McGonnigle (26:05) all clocked in with times in the top 250. Junior captain Ned Wilson (Hartford, Conn.) concluded his afternoon with a 26:07 performance.

The nationally-recognized event featured three top-25 ranked teams as well as 11 of the top 15 mid-Atlantic Region Teams.
A"t this point in the season, we have to find a way to finish our race and not just settle for improvements in the process," said head coach Greg Roy. "That will be the goal as we have just under four weeks before the The American Championships."
Overall, UConn athletes averaged a 25:56 pace in the tough 8K.
UConn will continue its 2014 campaign on Oct. 17 when it travels to Warwick, R.I. to participate in the Rothenburg Run.
