McGuire Leads Huskies For Third Consecutive Meet

2012 New England Championship Results

WESTFIELD, Mass.- The University of Connecticut men’s cross country team finished 10th at the 2012 New England Championships on Sunday afternoon at Stanley Park. The Huskies registered 364 points at Sunday’s 8K, while Dartmouth took home the crown with 84 points.

For the third consecutive meet junior Ryan McGuire was the first Husky to cross the finish line with a 17th place finish in 24:48.15. He was the only runner from UConn to record a top-50 time as he recorded a 3:06.1 every 1K.  

The following Huskies were Jordan Magath who finished in the 55th seat in 25:25.78 and freshman Alvaro Chavez in 69th (25:35.93).

Seniors Tim Bennatan and Joe Clark concluded the competition in 101st (25:58.80) and 122nd (26:07.43), respectively. The final two Huskies to finish were freshman Dan Murnane in 26:14.15 and sophomore Stephen Vento in 26:43.97.

The Huskies will return to competition on Saturday, October 13 at the Conn College Invite at Harkness Park in New London, Conn.
