Men's Cross Country Takes Home First Place At New England Championships

BOSTON, Mass. - The University of Connecticut men's cross country took home first place at the New England Championships on Saturday afternoon. The Huskies earned 149 points to capture the top seat out of 43 teams.

Connecticut came in front of second place and 2010 New England Champions Dartmouth who tallied 192 points ahead of third place Boston University.

UConn's highest finisher was senior Scott Johnson (Old Lyme, Conn.) in 14th place with a time of 25:11 in the 8k race. Shortly behind Johnson was fellow co-captain junior Nick Aguila (West Hartford, Conn.) in 19th at 25:17.

Following Johnson and Aguila was sophomore Ryan McGuire (Orange, Conn.) in the 29th spot in 25:33 and junior Jordan Magath (Hillsborough, N.J.) in 32nd with a time of 25:37.

Rounding out the Huskies was freshman Bryan Fowler (Tolland, Conn.) in the 55th seat in 25:59.

UConn returns to action next weekend when they take part in the Connecticut College Invitational held in New Britain, Conn. on Saturday, Oct. 15.
