BOSTON, Mass. – The University of Connecticut men’s cross country team finished a difficult day at the New England Championships in Boston on Saturday afternoon. The team finished in 11th place, with a score 325, out of a total 41 schools competing at the 8k invite at Franklin Park.
Bryan Fowler led the Connecticut effort with a time of 25:21, finishing in 41st overall. Also posting a solid run for the Huskies was freshman Mike O’Donnell, who ran the race in 25:29 and crossed the finish line in 48th place. David Cotton ran the race in 25:43 and grabbed 62nd place.
Coach Waldron remains optimistic about the setback, viewing the day as a learning opportunity to help improve throughout the remainder of the season. “Not much went right in the varsity race. We'll take the experience and learn from it and move forward. We have a lot of work to do in the next three weeks and we'll be ready for the AAC championship on November 2nd,” he commented.
The Huskies will look for a better showing on November 2nd in the American’s first-ever conference championship.
