Men's Cross Country Takes Ninth at BIG EAST Championship

BRONX, N.Y.- Ryan McGuire continued to be the Connecticut leading man as he guided the Huskies to a ninth place finish at the 2012 BIG EAST Championship on Friday morning at Van Cortland Park. The Huskies, who finished tenth in 2011, took ninth place out of 14 conference teams with 278 points. Syracuse, Georgetown and Notre Dame captured the top three seats, respectively.

McGuire, who has led the team in every 2012 meet, grabbed 34th place with a time of 25:31.21 at Friday's 8K race. He was the lone Husky recording a top-50 time.

Next to cross the finish line was senior Jordan Magath in 26:15.10 to claim the 51st spot, while sophomore James Agati posted a time of 26:56.84 for the 63rd seat.

Rounding out the scoring Huskies was senior co-captain Tim Bennatan with a time of 27:01.03 taking 64th and freshman Alvaro Chavez finishing in 27:07.56 for 66th place.
