Huskies Take 10th At BIG EAST XC Championship

KENOSHA, Wisc. - Jumping three spots from their finish last season, the University of Connecticut men's cross country team finished 10th at the BIG EAST Cross Country Championship hosted by Marquette University, Saturday.

Senior captain Will Sanders took crossed the line first for the Huskies and 29th overall with a time of 25:58. The rest of the Huskies finished in almost a pack about a minute and a half behind Sanders.

Freshman Ryan King was the runner up on the Husky squad with a 61st place performance coming in at 27:32. Scott Johnson finished right behind King in 62nd place with a time of 27:33 as Myles Udland finished 68th overall just seconds behind Johnson and King in 27:35.

Freshman Artem Skobrev rounded out the Husky scorers coming in 71st place in a time of 27:41. Jordan Magath and Nick Aguila took 73rd and 74th with finishes of 27:46 and 27:47respectively.

UConn averaged a time of 27:16 finishing with a total time of 2:16:19.

Syracuse University upset the reigning champions, Georgetown as the took home the 2009 XC title averaging a time of 25:11 while the Hoyas finished second overall.

Cory Thorne of the University of Louisville was the overall winner crossing the line first in an unbelievable time of 24:44.
