Huskies Take 10th Place At The NCAA Northeast Regional Championships

Aguila leads Huskies to 10th place finish.

BUFFALO, N.Y. - UConn Men's Cross Country took 10th place on Saturday afternoon at the NCAA East Regional Championships. The Huskies were led by junior Nick Aguilawho was the lone Husky in the Top 50 runners.

BIG EAST foe Syracuse and Iona College earned automatic bids to the NCAA Championships as they captured the first two seats, respectively. The top two teams of each region are awarded tickets to the NCAA Championships on November 21 while the rest wait to hear their fate as the selection committee decides who proceeds and whose season is over.

Aguila, a 2011 co-captain and constant leader for the Huskies took 48th place out of 240 runners with a 32:36.6 time. Shortly behind Aguila was sophomore Ryan McGuire who crossed the finish line 73rd at 33:03.8 and fellow co-captain senior Scott Johnsonin 74th in 33:07.2.

Rounding out the tallied competitors for UConn was junior Jordan Magath in 84th with a time of 33:07.4 and freshman Bryan Fowlerin 92nd in 33:26.0. The Huskies finished the day with a total of 371 points.

Other Huskies running in the race were junior Joe Clark who took 199 with a time of 36:09.6 and freshman Stephen Vento came in 200th in 36:12.4.
