RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Freshman runner Paul Holden (Ukiah, Calif.) paced the Huskies to a 19th place finish out of the 37 teams competing at the NCAA Northeast Regional Championship at Van Cortland Park in New York on Friday afternoon. Holden ran the 8k in a time of 32:10 to help the Huskies, who finished with 538 points. The Syracuse Orange topped the field for a first-place finish.

Team captain Bryan Fowler (Tolland, Conn.) crossed the finish line at 32:24. Rookie Michael O’Donnell (Methuen, Mass.) wrapped up his freshman campaign with a time of 32:47. Ned Wilson (Hartford, Conn.) and Mitchell Brown (Durham, Conn.) concluded the Husky lineup with a 33:05 and 33:17 finish, respectively.

"This meet was a great learning experience for the guys. We had some bright spots, highlighted by an excellent run by freshman Paul Holden," said Coach Renny Waldron.

"Unfortunately, some of our guys have been sick this week so we weren't quite at full strength. It's a rough time to come down with something, but these things happen and you have no choice but to put your best foot forward."

"We return everyone next year and the whole team is committed to taking the steps necessary to compete at the next level."
