Huskies Open 2012 at UMass Invite

Rich Miller and the Huskies are set to open the 2012 season.

STORRS, Conn.- The University of Connecticut men’s cross country team will open the 2012 campaign on Saturday, September 13 at the UMass Invite. The five mile race will begin at 11:30 a.m. and will take place on the UMass campus.

The Huskies, ranked 13th in the Northeast Region, will be facing Amherst College, Keene State, Stonehill College and the hosting Minutemen.

The Huskies return six student-athletes from the 2011 season and will be led by senior Joe Clark (Bayshore, N.Y.) and senior brothers Tim and Alex Bennatan (Lake Forrest, Ill.). Other returners joining the trio will be senior Jordan Magath (Hillsborough, N.J.), junior Ryan McGuire (Orange, Conn.) and sophomore Stephen Vento (Weston, Conn.).

UConn welcomes two familiar faces to the cross country lineup in sophomores James Agati (Stream, N.Y.) and Phil Caldwell (Cheshire, Conn.) who are making their cross country debut after competing on the Huskies’ track and field team last season.

Connecticut’s incoming freshmen to the 2012 roster are Alvaro Chavez, Dan Murnane (Morristown, N.J.), Zachary Patsy and Ned Wilson (Hartford, Conn.).
