STORRS, Conn. - The UConn men's cross-country team has elected sophomore runner Bryan Fowler (Tolland, Conn.) team captain for the 2013-2014 season.

Fowler finished the 2011-12 IC4A Championships in 26:29. Says Assistant Coach Renny Waldron of the appointment, "Bryan is everything we look for in a student athlete; he is an excellent student, a hard worker with a lot of mental toughness and he is well respected by his teammates.  He will be a great captain and we look forward to his leadership on this team."

Fowler will lead a Husky team fresh off a pair of first place finishes. The Huskies took home the UMass Invite and the Ted Owen Invitational to open the 2013 season. The squad will return to action next weekend in Boston at the New England Championship. Race time is slated to begin at 1:15pm.
