STORRS, Conn.- Three members of the men’s cross country team are set to compete this weekend at the NCAA Northeast Regional Qualifier hosted by Yale University and Fairfield University in Madison, Conn.
The Huskies will take on 39 other teams at the Northeast Regional Qualifier including three USTFCCCA (U.S Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association) ranked teams, Iona (4), Syracuse (14), and Columbia (22).
“Ryan and Jordan have separated themselves from the rest of the group as our top two runners all season. This season has seen great improvements in both runners and I am looking forward to seeing them race this Friday,” said coach Rich Miller.
McGuire has been a leader for the Huskies all season and finished 34th at the BIG EAST Championship meet. Magath finished second for the Huskies, coming in 51st.
Coach Miller feels these athletes have what it takes to do well in this meet. “Jordan, a senior, has emerged as very consistent racer that always rises to the occasion. Ryan, a fourth year junior and captain, has been a steady leader to this team all year long. Both are looking forward to this opportunity and to race aggressively from the start,” Miller said.
The race starts at 1:15 p.m. on Friday, November 9 at Hammonasset State Park.
