BRONX, N.Y. (November 11, 2006) - Senior Max Feldman's (Easton, Conn.) eighth place finish at the NCAA Regional Cross Country Championships paced the University of Connecticut men's cross country team to a 12th place finish Saturday afternoon.
Iona won the event with a total of 59 points. The Huskies recorded a total of 307 points to finished third amongst BIG EAST teams. Providence took second place while Syracuse earned third.
Providence's Martin Fagan won the individual crown as he paced the field with a time of 30:40.
Feldman, who finished with a time of 31:50, will wait to see if his time will qualify for the NCAA Championships which will be announced Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m.
Junior Paul Durfee (Laconia, N.H.) was second on the Huskies and 47th overall after completing his afternoon in a time of 33:11. Not far behind, sophomore Will Sanders (Wethersfield, Conn.) finished the event with a time of 33:23.
Junior Will Melofchik (Wayside, N.J.) earned a 58th place finish and was fourth on the Huskies with his time of 33:27. Next in line, senior Kyle Eckman (Bridgewater, N.J.) laid claim to a 144th place finish with a time of 35:21.
Colin Meyers (West Seneca, N.Y.) took 154th place and finished sixth on the Huskies as he ended his afternoon with a time of 35:39.
