STORRS, Conn. – UConn Athletics hosted its third annual SAAC O’ Lantern Monday, October 30 in Gampel Pavilion, where over 200 families came dressed in Halloween costumes to trick-or-treat with student-athletes from a variety of UConn’s athletics teams.
Student-Athletes also participated in a friendly table décor competition. Each team was given a specific theme to represent on their table, which was judged based off a variety of categories- creativity, children activities and engagement and all around team effort/class representation.
The women’s volleyball table took the top sport on the night for it’s creatively and overall presentation. Softball claimed second for its effort, while men’s cross country and track and field was awarded third place.
“The student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Executive Board did an amazing job, putting this event together,” said Director of Student-Athlete Development, Trisha Hawthorne-Noble. “Throughout the night, student-athletes were able to de-stress, work together, have fun and mingle with other students. Most importantly, the children and families enjoyed the night and are looking forward to coming back next year.”
