The UConn Club will present its Red O'Neill Award to Greg Wolff '75, a former Husky swimming standout and now a successful insurance executive, when the group holds its 60th Annual Awards Dinner on Monday, April 15 at Gampel Pavilion.
The Red O'Neill Award is given annual to former UConn student-athletes who have gone from the fields and courts of play to distinguish themselves in their chosen careers.
Wolff was a swimmer during his undergraduate days at UConn and earned All-New England honors and held five school records while serving as team captain in his senior year.
He is now Chairman of Wolff Financial Group, LLC, in Manchester, Conn., a business that was founded in 1954 by his father Thomas Wolff, a 1956 UConn graduate, who was also incredibly generous to UConn before passing away in October 2008. Greg is in partnership with his oldest son Keith making Wolff Financial a third generation business.
The Wolff-Zackin Natatorium in Storrs was named for the family's generosity while the Wolffs have four endowed scholarship funds as part of the UConn Athletic Development Fund - including the Wolff-Davis Swimming Scholarship. The Wolff family has also been extremely active in UConn's School of Business as they have endowed a chair in strategic entrepreneurship and the Wolff Business Plan Competition.
Greg is a nationally-recognized consultant, lecturer and insurance expert. He has published articles in several national insurance magazines and has spoken throughout North America, including nine times at the prestigious Million Dollar Round Table. Greg has qualified for the Million Dollar Round Table every year since he began in the life insurance business and has also qualified for Top of the Table, The Forum 400 and is a past President of the Hartford Life Underwriters.
In 1984, he received the coveted Certified Financial Planner designation. Greg was recognized as one of America's Top Field Planners in 2008 by Consumer's Council of America.
Greg's involvement in the community goes beyond the insurance business. He currently serves on several boards: Board Member of the Savings Bank of Manchester Charitable Foundation and Member of Grants Committee, Advisory Board member of HighCap Financial, Golf Chair and Advisory Member of Lakewood Ranch Golf & Country Club. He is a past President of the Manchester Chamber of Commerce, past Chairman of the March of Dimes Walkathon, past Chairman of the Heart Fund Drive of Manchester, former Board Member of Ellington Ridge Country Club, former Board Member and Executive Committee Member of the Savings Bank of Manchester and former Executive Committee Member and Board Member of Eastern Connecticut Health Network.
Greg and his wife Liz have a wonderful family in their son Keith, daughter-in-law Kris and their two boys, Jackson and Devin; their son James and their son Kyle, his wife Kelsey and their daughter, Libby, and son, Matthew.
