STORRS, Conn. - Barry Botticello, a resident of Manchester, Conn., was presented with The A.J. Pappanikou Outstanding Contribution Award on Monday night by The UConn Club at the group's 61st Annual Awards Dinner, which was held at Gampel Pavilion.
Botticello graduated from UConn with a degree in economics in 1972 and earned his law degree from the school in 1975. He was admitted to the Connecticut Bar also in 1975.
He has been practicing law in Manchester, Conn. since 1975 -- originally as a sole practitioner and since 1990, as a partner in the firm of Penny, Botticello, and O'Brien PC. Botticello has been the managing partner of the firm since its inception.
Botticello was elected to the UConn Club Board of Directors in 2007 and has served as president, vice president and served as chairman of several fund raising committees.
He is a past president of the Manchester Bar Association and a past member of the Board of Directors of the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce. Botticello has been active in a number of local fundraising efforts, often serving as an officer.
Botticello is a member of the Manchester chapter of UNICO National - the largest Italian-American service organization in the United States. He has been the president and district governor for that group and a member of the National Executive Committee.
He was born in Manchester and grew up in Lebanon, Conn., where he graduated from Lyman Memorial High School in 1968 and was a member of the varsity basketball team.
Botticello resides in Manchester with his wife Patti. He has two daughters, Kristine and Tricia, two sons-in-law David and Neil, and five grandchildren: Julia, Jaime, Evan, Jessica, and Hannah.
