Impacting Champions: June

June 6, 2014

Each and every gift you make to support UConn Athletics has a direct impact on the lives of our student-athletes. As the stories below illustrate, by making a contribution you help provide deserving young people with an opportunity to be champions both athletically and academically.

To everybody who has made an investment in UConn Athletics, we would like to say thank you! The level of success we have been able to enjoy would not be possible without your continued generosity.

"I love the family atmosphere here at UConn. Everybody is very welcoming, from my fellow student-athletes, to the fans and to our donors. I really appreciate everything our donors do. It was really nice having a chance to meet a few of them during last Fall's scholarship dinner. Since then, I have seen them at our games and I have really enjoyed having them in the crowd supporting us.".

Moriah Jefferson
Sophomore, Women's Basketball, ACES, Glenn Heights, Texas

"My time at UConn thus far has been amazing, I have not only enjoyed the volleyball program but the entire UConn family and this is all because of the Treibicki Family Endowed Scholarship that has given me these once in a lifetime opportunities."

Erika Thomas
Sophomore, Volleyball, Pre-Teaching, Ocoee, Fla.

"Receiving a scholarship has provided me with many more opportunities beyond attaining my degree and play soccer. It also allowed me to be a member of the UConn family and a part of the strong tradition of the UConn Men's Soccer program. The atmosphere on campus and the whole experience at UConn is something that I will relish forever."

Adria Beso
Junior, Men's Soccer, Economics, Lleida, Spain

"Being a student-athlete at UConn is like being a part of a big family. The academic support I receive here is incredible. Right now I am majoring in Horticulture and Architectural Design and I love it. Once I graduate I want to work in either pharmaceuticals or do architectural planning for the government. Every gift to support UConn Athletics helps us athletically and academically and motivates us to be better people and better athletes."

Michael Hopkins
Freshman, Men's Swimming & Diving, Horticulture, Stamford, Connecticut

"Having the opportunity to receive a degree from UConn, while playing a sport I love and have played my entire life has been incredible. My teammates are the best group of guys I have ever played with and I know I am building lifelong friendships with them. For everything our donors have done, I want to say thank you!"
