UConn Ranked 11th In Learfield Cup Standings

The UConn field hockey team reached the national semifinals.

CLEVELAND - The University of Connecticut is ranked in 11th place in the latest standings for the Learfield Sports Directors' Cup. The Learfield Sports Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 20 sports -- ten women's and ten men's.

This set of standings reflects NCAA Championship results in men's and women's cross country, field hockey, men's and women's soccer and men's water polo.

UConn received 83 points for reaching the national semifinals of the field hockey championship and 73 for reaching the quarterfinals of the men's soccer championship.

The Huskies are the top-ranked team in the BIG EAST Conference in these standings as there are a total of six BIG EAST schools in the top 18.

Stanford currently leads the standings followed by North Carolina, Maryland, Florida State and UCLA.
