UConn Head Coach Geno Auriemma

On Kia Nurse:

“I wasn’t surprised that Kia made a bunch of plays today. She made a bunch of great plays. She plays really hard every day. She’s a competitive kid and she has a certain intensity level every game.”

On the team sharing the ball:

“That’s been the case here for 30 years. That’s just the way we play. We have put a real high premium on passing the ball to a guy that’s open. We try to make every person on our team a better passer than when they got here.”

On playing No. 2 South Carolina on Monday:

“They are probably going to be the hardest team that we’ve played this year to defend. Nobody has that combination of size and strength. It’s going to be a real challenge because we’re not as big.”

East Carolina Head Coach Heather Macy

On what Jada Payne does that makes her so tough to guard:

"Well Jada has been an incredible player for our program. We're hoping, and feel confident, that she'll be our first ever WNBA Draft pick. I was really pleased for her. Tonight she became the fifth leading scorer in program history, in only three seasons."

On scoring more than 40 points against UConn:

"That will give me something good to tell the girls in the locker room. I thought in the second half we played in smaller segments to help break the game up. That helped us compartmentalize a little bit."

On what playing in an atmosphere like this does for the team:

"Well it's more what it does for women's college basketball. This is important for the game. Give Geno (Auriemma) and his program credit for really setting the tone and helping make our game better."

Senior Moriah Jefferson

On the upcoming game against No. 2 South Carolina:

"It's number one against number two, so it's the fight for the top spot. We have to come out ready and aggressive and hit them from the start. Before this team, it was hard not to focus on (South Carolina), but we had to come out ready for today. Now that it's over we can really start focusing on Monday."

Senior Breanna Stewart

On Kia Nurse:

"After last game, it was great to see her come out today and see her confidence. One game doesn't define you as a player, and today she came out and did what she does. Whenever a player is down we're here to lift them back up."

On the upcoming game against No. 2 South Carolina:

"It's going to be a hostile environment. It’ll be crazy, but that's what you want."

On advice for younger players:

"You just have to do your best. There's going to be a lot of stuff going on, but we just have to stay calm. As long as we play our basketball we will be fine."
