    STORRS, Conn.  – Sophomore forward Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis guided the Huskies to a dominant 105-28 victory over Indiana University (Pa.) in Connecticut’s Friday evening exhibition game. Mosqueda-Lewis was one rebound shy of a double-double as she tallied a team-high 24 points and grabbed a team-best nine rebounds.

    The Huskies dominated every facet of the game with UConn going 56.5 percent from the field, 39.3 percent from behind the arc and a near perfect 84.2 percent from the charity stripe.

    After IUP opened the game with two free throws for a 2-0 lead the Huskies responded with a 16-0 run and never looked back entering the locker room at halftime with a 50-13 edge. 

    UConn concluded the night with 21 steals and forced 28 IUP turnovers with the Huskies notching 43 points off turnovers. The Husky defense held the Crimson Hawks to a staggering 20.8 field percentage and 19 percent from the three.  

    The Huskies, who outrebounded IUP 45-24, continued to roll in the second period adding 55 more points to their total to conclude the game with a 77 point advantage.

    The highly anticipated freshman class had a striking first showing in the Husky uniform with all three registering double figures. Morgan Tuck and Breanna Stewart each totaled 15 points, while Stewart added eight rebounds and a team-high four denials. Moriah Jefferson finished the contest with 10 points, four rebounds, three assist and two steals.

    UConn finished the evening with six Huskies scoring in the double digits to cruise past the Crimson Hawks as junior center Stefanie Dolson contributed 14 points going 6-for-9 from the floor. Senior guard Kelly Faris was stellar in every way for Connecticut scoring 11 points, pulling down five rebounds, leading the team with eight assists, blocking two shots and tacking on two steals.

    Connecticut returns to action on Wednesday, November 7 when they welcome Holy Family to the XL Center in Hartford, Conn. at 7 p.m. for the squad’s final exhibition game of the season. The Huskies kick off the regular season on Sunday, November 11 at 1:30 p.m. against the College of Charleston at Gampel Pavilion.
