Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis

We don’t want to get ourselves in a hole and try to dig ourselves out.  We want to jump on whoever we are playing early and not play catch up at all.

On freshman forward Breanna Stewart

She’s a great player.  She’s a post player who is versatile who can shoot two’s and threes and she is a good rebounder.  So I think she is good enough to keep getting 20 points every night.

On the team’s performance tonight

A lot of good and a lot of bad.  We need to improve on a lot of what we did tonight, especially defensively in the second half.  We realize that we are going to have to work on a couple things and that everything is not great right now.

Tonight we got beat a lot off the dribble.  So as much as we worked on that in practice this week, we are going to have to work on that just that much more.  We have to stay on our feet.  We left our feet too much and they were able to go by us.

We did well offensively in the first couple of games we played in having a lot of options and having points come from a lot of different areas.  Tonight we didn’t get the ball inside enough and the posts didn’t get it because we weren’t able to give them a good pass.  In the first couple game we were able to score inside a lot more easily and we need to get back to that.

On the team’s performance tonight

Every game you play this early in the season you find a lot of positives and you find things that you need to get better at as the season goes on.  Last night we didn’t defensive rebound the ball.  Today on defense in the first half, as long as our pressure was there, we thought we could control the game and we did.  But in the second half, we didn’t want to press them.  We just played them straight up man-to-man.

Some of our young guys got beat on the same thing time after time.  So we could have pressed them the entire game but I don’t think we would have learned as much.
