STORRS, Conn. – Senior forward Gabby Williams scored 20 points and dished-out seven assists in the top-ranked Huskies win against Memphis on Sunday afternoon. UConn (11-0) improves to 1-0 in American action and won its 71st-straight regular-season conference tilt.
The win moves the Huskies into third place on the all-time list, passing Stanford, which won 70 straight Pac-12 games between January, 2009 and September, 2013.
In the conference opener, Williams was a perfect 10-10 from the floor and also recorded four steals in 32-minutes of action. The 10-10 performance was one FG shy of the most FG’s made without a miss as Rebecca Lobo made all 11 of her FGA’s on December 23, 1994 in a win against Iona.
The Huskies are back in action this Wednesday when the team visits ECU in North Carolina for a 7:00 p.m. (ET) tip. The contest will be the Huskies first American Athletic Conference road tilt of the season.
