Katie Lou Samuelson had a record-breaking night, scoring 40 points and hitting all 10 of her 3-point shots to lead top-ranked UConn to a 100-44 rout of South Florida in the American Athletic Conference Tournament final on Monday.

UConn (12-0, 2-0), who defeated No. 10/9 Stanford, No. 20/25 Cal, No. 15/13 Maryland, No. 5/5 UCLA and No. 3/2 Notre Dame earlier this year, looks to improve on its impressive all-time record of 246-62 (.798) versus Top-25 AP ranked teams. UConn is 60-24 all-time on the road against ranked opponents and 37-11 in road games against ranked teams since 2004-05.

Six Huskies are averaging double-figures in scoring. Junior guard Katie Lou Samuelson is pacing all players with 19.3 points per game on 53.6 percent (52-97) shooting from the floor. Azura Stevens, and Napheesa Collier lead the squad in rebounding with 8.8 and 7.9 boards, respectively.

The Huskies and USF both own a 2-0 clip in conference action heading into Saturday’s tilt. UConn most recently defeated ECU 96-35 on Wednesday afternoon while the Bulls took down Cincinnati 69-46 last week.

The Huskies are 23-0 all-time against USF in a series that dates back to the 2002-03 season. UConn’s overtime victory against the Bulls on December 1, 2004 marked the last time the Huskies won a game that went into extra time.

UConn returns home on Tuesday, January 9 for a midweek clash against UCF in American play.
