STORRS, Conn. – On the road again. The top-ranked University of Connecticut women’s basketball team packs it bags for a pair of contests in the Lone Star State. The Huskies begin their Texas trip at conference foe Houston on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. (ET).
Connecticut (14-0) looks to improve to 5-0 in American action in its only regular season matchup against the Cougars. The tilt will air on SNY and the UConn/IMG Radio Network. UConn enters the contest on a 43-game road win streak and is in the midst of an impressive 143 win streak against unranked opponents.
Off the bench, Azura Stevens led five players in double-figures with 19 points in the squads 80-44 rout of UCF at Gampel Pavilion last Tuesday. The Knights were the third-straight team the Huskies held under 50 points en route to their 100th-consecutive regular season win.
Houston (14-4, 3-1 American) enters Saturday having won six of its last seven contests. The Cougars are led by Jasmyne Harris (20.3 ppg, 6.1 rpg) and Angela Harris (13.4 ppg, 3.2 rpg) as Houston is 6-1 at in friendly confines this season.
UConn aims to remain perfect against Houston as they hold a 5-0 edge in the all-time series against the Cougars, including a 2-0 advantage on the road.
The Huskies wrap up their Texas trip with a non-conference tilt at No. 7 Texas on Monday, in the Frank Erwin Center.
