Huskies Return Home to Host Tulane Sunday

STORRS, Conn. – The No. 1 UConn women’s basketball team returns home to Gampel Pavilion on Sunday, Jan. 22 when the Huskies welcome Tulane for a 1 p.m. tip.

Sunday’s matchup between the Huskies and the Green Wave will be televised nationally on ESPN2 with radio coverage on the UConn/IMG Radio Network.

UConn (17-0, 5-0 AAC) is hot off a two game road stretch, taking down SMU and Tulsa by 40-point margins of victory on both occasions.

Most recently, the Huskies defeated the Golden Hurricane 98-58 on Tuesday at Reynolds Coliseum, which brought their record-breaking win streak to 92 consecutive victories. UConn is just one away game away from tying its previous record for consecutive road games won (34).

Sophomore guard/forward Katie Lou Samuelson (Huntington Beach, Calif.) set a new career-high 34 points at Tulsa, shooting 13-18 from the floor and 7-12 from 3-point range.

Sophomore forward Napheesa Collier (O’Fallon, Mo.) recorded her second consecutive double-double, her fifth of the season, against Tulsa where she put up 21 points and brought down 13 rebounds. Junior forward Gabby Williams (Sparks, Nev.) also shot 6-9 for 13 points in addition to nine rebounds and eight assists.

UConn is undefeated 5-0 in all-time series against Tulane. The last time out, the Huskies defeated the Green Wave 82-35 in the 2016 American Athletic Conference semifinals on March 6, 2016. Samuelson led the way that day with 17 points.



Tulane (12-6, 3-2 AAC) is coming off back-to-back wins over the AAC Texas opponents, SMU and Houston. After defeating SMU 71-59 on the road, Tulane knocked off Houston 82-56 at home at Devlin Fieldhouse. Junior guard Kolby Morgan led the Green Wave against the Cougars with 22 points. She currently leads the team this season, averaging 18.3 points per game.
