STORRS, Conn. – Senior forward Gabby Williams of the top-ranked University of Connecticut women’s basketball team garnered her second American Athletic Conference Player of the Week honor, as announced by the league on Monday afternoon.
Williams averaged a double-double with 13.5 points and 12.0 rebounds while shooting 70.5 percent from the field.
The Sparks, Nev. native began the week with a strong performance at national defending champion No. 7 South Carolina. The forward brought down a team-high 14 boards and five assists. Williams chipped in with 14 points as Connecticut ran over the Gamecocks, 83-58.
Behind a 13-point and 10-rebound performance against conference foe Cincinnati, Williams collected her fifth double-double of the season.
The Huskies travel to Florida to take on UCF on Wednesday night before a three-game home stand that includes their final non-conference game of the season against No. 4 Louisville next Monday.
