    STORRS, Conn. (February 18, 2008) -
The UConn women's basketball team returned to the No. 1 spot in the Associated Press Poll, which was released on Monday afternoon, for the second time this season.

The Huskies return to the top spot following a one-week absence after holding the No. 1 ranking for previous seven straight weeks.

Connecticut received 1,230 points and 38 first-place votes.  North Carolina checked in at No. 2 with 1,167 points and two first-place votes.  Tennessee rounded out the top-three with a single first-place vote and 1,106 points.

Rutgers, the lone team to defeat UConn this season was slotted at No. 5, but received eight first-place votes - the second most of any team.

The week's No. 1 ranking marks the ninth time in which the Huskies have earned the top ranking nationally in the program's history.  Connecticut has now been ranked No. 1 in the Associated Press poll for a total of 102 weeks in the program's history.
