UConn Fans Edge Baylor Fans for a Great Cause Thanks to All Who Donated
UConn fans came up big for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.

STORRS, Conn. -The University of Connecticut women's basketball team would like to pass along its most sincere thanks to all the UConn fans nationwide who made generous and heartfelt donations to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund over the last month. The Husky fan base once again proved it is the best in the country as UConn fans edged Baylor fans, $23,211.62 - $7,810, in the fundraising competition.
The big winner though is the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, which received donations from UConn and Baylor fans for a combined $33,021.62.
Kay Yow, the late Hall of Fame North Carolina State head women's basketball coach, was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1987, and passed away on January 24, 2009, after facing her third bout with the disease. The V Foundation for Cancer Research to form the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization committed to being a part of finding an answer in the fight against women's cancers through raising money for scientific research, assisting the underserved and unifying people for a common cause.
