Nurse Selected as Dawn Staley Award Finalist

PHILADELPHIA – Senior Kia Nurse was selected as a finalist for the 2018 Dawn Staley Award, as announced by the Phoenix Club of Philadelphia Friday.

The Dawn Staley Award is presented annually to the most outstanding collegiate guard in the country. The honor was established in 2013, and Moriah Jefferson is the only previous Husky to win the award.

Nurse is averaging a career-high 14.7 points this season and ranks sixth nationally with a 46.7 three-point field goal percentage. She also has career-highs in field goal percentage (54.3), minutes per game (32.3), rebounds per game (3.2) and blocks (12).

Earlier this week, Nurse was also named a finalist for the Nancy Lieberman Point Guard of the Year Award.

Other finalists for the 2018 Staley Award are Asia Durr (Louisville), Kelsey Mitchell (Ohio State) and Victoria Vivians (Mississippi State).

Dawn Staley will present the award during a reception on Thursday, April 5.
