Mosqueda-Lewis and the Huskies play Syracuse Monday at 8 p.m. in BIG EAST Semifinal

STORRS, Conn.- The No. 3 UConn women’s basketball team is set to face Syracuse(24-6, 13-1 BIG EAST ) on Monday at 8 p.m. in the BIG EAST semifinal after defeating DePaul on Sunday evening in the quarterfinals. The contest will be televised on ESPNU with Beth Mowins, Brooke Weisbrod and Allison Williams on the call.
The Huskies (28-3, 14-2 BIG EAST), the tournament’s No. 2 seed, are searching for their sixth straight BIG EAST Tournament championship and their 19th overall. Connecticut is 22-2 all-time in the semifinals and has won eight-straight semifinal appearances since losing to Boston College in the 2004 semis.
In Sunday’s 94-61 win over DePaul, Connecticut had an excellent showing from its three freshmen as the trio combined for 45 percent of the Huskies’ total points. Leading the squad was Breanna Stewart who tallied a team-high 21 points and grabbed six rebounds, while Moriah Jefferson scored 12 points and Morgan Tuck added nine.
Connecticut has four Huskies averaging double-figures with Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis leading the pack with 17.9 points per game, while Stefanie Dolson is averaging 14.4, Stewart with 12.5 and Kelly Faris scoring 10.7 points per game.
UConn is 36-12 all-time vs. Syracuse and the Huskies have won the last 22 games, and 29 of the last 30, against the Orange. Most recently, the Huskies downed the Orange, 87-62, on January 19. Connecticut is 2-0 against Syracuse in BIG EAST Tournament games.
