ATLANTA - UConn women’s basketball head coach Geno Auriemma was named one of four finalists for the 2018 Werner Ladder Naismith Women’s College Coach of the Year, as announced by the Atlanta Tipoff Club Wednesday.
The Huskies hold a 32-0 record and enter the NCAA Tournament with an undefeated record for the third straight season and the 10th time in program history. Auriemma led UConn to the 2018 American Athletic Conference regular season and tournament titles for the fifth straight year.
Fans will have a chance to vote for their favorite coach beginning March 19 and running through 6 p.m. EDT on March 30. By visiting naismithtrophy.com/vote, fans can cast their ballot for the Werner Ladder Naismith Women’s Coach of the Year honor. The fan component makes up 5 percent of the overall vote.
Auriemma has been named the Naismith Coach of the Year eight times, the most of any coach. He has won the award for the last three seasons.
The other finalists for the award are Kelly Graves (Oregon), Muffet McGraw (Notre Dame) and Vic Schaefer (Mississippi State).
The 2018 Werner Ladder Naismith Women’s College Coach of the Year winner will be announced on Saturday, March 31.
