HARTFORD - The University of Connecticut men's and women's basketball teams were treated to a Victory Parade and Rally on a beautiful Sunday in downtown Hartford.  The event, which celebrated UConn's dual national championships, was attended by approximately 200,000 people.  The Hartford Police Department estimated it was the largest event in the city in 20 years.

This celebratory event was produced by the Hartford Business Improvement District, in collaboration with the City of Hartford and the State of Connecticut, and a number of civic and business organizations.

The parade began at the State Capitol, traveled north on Trinity Street, east on Jewell and Gold Streets, south on Main Street then west Capitol Avenue before returning to the State Capitol.

A rally at the State Capitol followed the parade. IMG/UConn Radio Network play-by-play announcer Joe D'Ambrosio served as the emcee of the rally, which included remarks from Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy, UConn President Susan Herbst, Director of Athletics Warde Manuel, student-athletes Stefanie Dolson, Bria Hartley and Shabazz Napier and head coaches Kevin Ollie and Geno Auriemma.
