2009-10 BIG EAST WBB Home and Away Grid
STORRS, Conn. -The University of Connecticut women's basketball team will face Notre Dame twice during the 2009-10 season, according to the 2009-10 BIG EAST home/away league opponents, released today by BIG EAST Conference officials.
For the fifth season, the BIG EAST will use a scheduling format that will see each league member play 16 conference games - one game each against 14 conference foes (seven home and seven away) and a home and away series against one conference opponent.
The Huskies will face Notre Dame twice in 2009-10, the first time that Connecticut will battle the Fighting Irish on a home and home basis since the current conference scheduling format was adopted in 2005-06. In the four previous seasons under the system, the Huskies have been paired up with Rutgers for the home-and-home set.
UConn will host BIG EAST contests against Cincinnati, Georgetown, Providence, St. John's, South Florida, Rutgers, West Virginia and Notre Dame.
The Huskies will take to the road to face DePaul, Louisville, Pittsburgh, Marquette, Seton Hall, Syracuse, Villanova and Notre Dame.
Connecticut captured the BIG EAST Regular Season and Tournament titles in the same season for the second consecutive year and the 13th time in 2008-09. The Huskies boast a 347-84 (.805) all-time mark in BIG EAST Conference games.
The Huskies will return four starters and nine letterwinners from last season's squad that posted a perfect 39-0 record and captured the program's sixth NCAA National Championship.
UConn has advanced to the regional round of the NCAA Tournament in each of the past 15 seasons.
Dates and times of all conference and non-conference games will be released at a later date.
