Women’s Hoops Nominated for Several ESPY’s

Auriemma and Stewart have each been nominated for two ESPY's.

Vote UConn for this year's ESPY Awards! -

STORRS, Conn. – Head coach Geno Auriemma, graduated star Breanna Stewart and the UConn women’s basketball team have been nominated for several ESPY Awards as announced by ESPN in late June.  Fans still have plenty of time to vote as voting ends when the annual awards show begins on July 13 at 8 p.m. EDT in Los Angeles.

Auriemma’s 11th national championship is nominated for Best Record Breaking Performance along with Stephen Curry (single-season 3FG made) and Christian McCaffrey (single-season all-purpose yards).  The UConn head coach is also nominated, along with Ned Yost, Nick Saban, Jay Wright and Tyronn Lue for the Best Coach/Manager category. 

Stewart has been nominated as the Best Female Athlete along with Elena Delle Donne, Simone Biles and Katie Ledecky and as the Best Female College Athlete along with Raquel Rodriguez, Samantha Bricio, Taylor Cummings and Sierra Romero.

As a team, the Huskies are nominated for the Best Team award along with the Pittsburgh Penguins, Cleveland Cavaliers, Kansas City Royals, Denver Broncos, Alabama football and Villanova men’s basketball.
