ROME – The UConn women’s basketball team’s trip to Italy got off to a great start as the team arrived in Rome on Sunday at 10 a.m. local time after departing from JFK on Saturday at 8 p.m. EDT.
From the airport, the team took a bus to the Colosseum area and had several options for lunch in the general vicinity of the Colosseum. The Huskies then enjoyed an informative guided tour of the magnificent structure, which was completed in AD 80, held over 50,000 spectators and recently underwent an exterior cleaning that cost about €25 million.
The team then checked into the hotel and enjoyed a bit of downtime before dinner.
Check back tomorrow for more updates on our trip to the Vatican and about our game against the Dutch National Team at 1:30 p.m. EDT. Also, stay up to date with the Huskies on Facebook (facebook.com/uconnwbb), Twitter (@UConnWBB) and Instagram (@UConnWBB).
