STORRS, Conn. (October 10, 2006) -- The University of Connecticut womens basketball team will play a minimum of eight games on national television in 2006-07 as part of this seasons BIG EAST Womens Basketball Television Package, which was announced today by conference officials.
The Huskies will play four regular-season games on espn2 in 2006-07 along with two on College Sports Television (CSTV), one on ESPNU and its annual clash with rival Tennessee will be aired nationally on CBS on Saturday, Jan. 6 at 4:00 p.m. (ET) from the Hartford Civic Center.
Connecticut will face Purdue on Thursday, Nov. 30 at Gampel Pavilion in its first nationally-televised game of the season on espn2. The Huskies other games which will air on espn 2 include tilts at national runner-up North Carolina (Jan. 15), at LSU (Feb. 11) and the regular-season finale at Rutgers (Feb. 26).
UConn will play a pair of games on College Sports Television (CSTV) as part of the networks BIG EAST Game of the Week. Included are the Huskies meetings at West Virginia (Jan. 2) and vs. Rutgers (Feb. 6).
ESPNU will air UConns game at Virginia on Monday, Dec. 18 in Charlottesville at the new John Paul Jones Arena.
In addition, the Huskies will make one appearance on the BIG EASTs Regional Sports Network Game of the Week Package when they play host to Pittsburgh on Sunday, Feb. 17 at 12:00 p.m.
The BIG EASTs Regional Sports Network Game of the Week can be seen on SportsNet New York (SNY) and other networks to be announced. The package of games will be produced by ESPN Regional Television.
The 2006-07 Connecticut Public Television (CPTV) UConn womens basketball broadcast schedule will be announced at a later date.
This will mark the 18th consecutive year that UConn womens basketball will be televised nationally on one of ESPNs family of networks and the 17th consecutive season it has appeared on CBS.
