STORRS, Conn. – UConn standouts Bria Hartley and Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis have been selected as Honorable Mention Preseason All-Americans as announced by the Associated Press on Tuesday. Both Huskies were also named to the 2012-13 preseason Wade Watch List.
The 2012 AP Preseason All-America Team consists of Baylor’s Brittney Griner, Notre Dame’s Skylar Diggins, Delaware’s Elena Delle Donne, Stanford’s Chiney Ogwumike, Baylor’s Odyssey Sims and Maryland’s Alyssa Thomas.
Joining Hartley and Mosqueda-Lewis on the Honorable Mention list is Florida International’s Jerica Coley, Kansas’s Angel Goodrich, Tayler Hill of Ohio State, Nebraska’s Jordan Hooper, Maggie Lucas of Penn State, Kevi Luper (Oral Roberts), A’dia Mathies of Kentucky, Georgetown’s Sugar Roberts and Duke’s Elizabeth Williams.
Hartley, a WBCA/State Farm First Team All-American, was tabbed to the 2011-12 All-BIG EAST First Team after averaging 14 points and 3.7 assists per game. Sophomore Mosqueda-Lewis had a breakout freshman season with the Huskies earning her the titles of BIG EAST Freshman of the Year and Sixth Man of the Year after being the top UConn scorer with 15 points per game.
UConn opens exhibition play on Friday, November 2 at Gampel Arena when they host Indiana University (Pa.) at 7 p.m. Connecticut’s regular-season opener is set for November 11 at 1:30 p.m. against the College of Charleston.
