STORRS, Conn. (November 1, 2008) -The University of Connecticut women's basketball team is ranked No. 1 nationally in the 2008 Associated Press Preseason Top-25, which was released Saturday.
This marks the first time since 2004 and the sixth time in the program's history that Connecticut has been ranked No. 1 by the Associated Press in the preseason.
The Huskies received 44 of 45 first-place votes and garnered a total of 1,124 from a national media panel.

The Huskies return four starters and 10 letterwinners from last season's squad that finished 36-2 and advanced to the ninth NCAA Final Four in the program's history.
Connecticut opens preseason action on Thursday, Nov. 6 against Stonehill College (Mass.) in a 7:30 p.m. tip at Gampel Pavilion.
