    STORRS, Conn.- The University of Connecticut women's basketball kicks off the 2012-13 season on Friday evening when they host Indiana University (Pa.) in the first of two exhibition games. Friday's game is at Gampel Pavilion in Storrs and tipoff is set for 7 p.m.

    The Huskies concluded the 2011-12 campaign with a 33-5 overall record and a trip to their fifth consecutive Final Four. The 2011-12 BIG EAST Tournament champions return four starters, losing Tiffany Hayes to graduation.

    The squad was led by Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis who averaged 15 points and 5.4 rebounds per game, while Bria Hartley was selected to the prestigious 2011-12 WBCA/State Farm All-America Team after averaging 14 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game. Hartley and Mosqueda-Lewis both were selected as Honorable Mention Preseason All-Americans by the Associated Press, named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST First Team and named to the 2012-13 preseason Wade Watch List.

    Also named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST First Team and the 2012-13 preseason Wade Watch List was junior center Stefanie Dolson. Dolson ended her sophomore season with a team-high six rebounds per game, was the leader in blocks with 57 denials and averaged 10.4 points per game.

    Donning the UConn garb for the first time will be newcomers Moriah Jefferson, Breanna Stewart and Morgan Tuck. The freshman class was the top-rated by most recruiting services. Stewart, honored with six National High School Player of the Year recognitions, was the third consecutive Husky to be tabbed as the Preseason BIG EAST Freshman of the Year after averaging 26.4 points, 13.9 rebounds, 3 assists, 2.8 steals and 4.2 blocks per game in high school.

    The Huskies conclude the preseason on Wednesday, November 7, with their final exhibition game against Holy Family at the XL Center before opening the regular season on Sunday, November 11 at Gampel Pavilion against the College of Charleston at 1:30 p.m.
