St. Thomas, USVI - The University of Connecticut women's basketball team had a great first day in St. Thomas. The team arrived late Monday night and will compete in the 2012 Paradise Jam on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. This marks the Huskies' second trip to the Paradise Jam as they defeated Old Dominion, Duke and Stanford en route to the 2007 title.
The team arrived late Monday night from Texas and got to the island in time to watch most of the UConn men's team's championship game against New Mexico. Today, the Huskies practiced at the University of the Virgin Islands, which is the site of the Paradise Jam, at 10 a.m. AST and then went out to Bucks Bay on a catamaran and did some snorkeling.
Additionally, Bria Hartley, who has not played yet this season due to a sprained ankle, practiced in full today and came through successfully. She is probable to play in Thursday's game against Wake Forest.
So far, so good from St. Thomas. Check out the photos from day one in the gallery above.
