UCONN BEGINS A STRETCH OF THREE GAMES IN THREE DAYS AT GAMPEL:   No. 1/1 Connecticut will play the first of three games over three consecutive days when it plays host to Hofstra on Friday night as part of the 3-day, 4-team, 2009 WBCA Classic at Gampel Pavilion post-Thanksgiving weekend.

The Huskies will follow Friday’s contest with games against Richmond (Nov. 28) and Clemson (Nov. 29).
 
UConn will enjoy six days off following Sunday’s game vs. Clemson before resuming its current seven-game homestand on Thursday, Dec. 3 vs. Vermont at Gampel Pavilion.
 
All three of UConn’s games at the 2009 WBCA Classic will be televised live on CPTV.
 
UConn has won 42 straight games entering the 2009 WBCA Classic.

 

UConn Players to be Honored Prior to Hofstra Game: Two UConn players will be honored for recently reaching historical career milestones prior to Friday's game vs. Hofstra.
 
Kalana Greene will be presented with a ball commemorating her becoming the 33rd player in UConn history to reach 1,000 career points in the season-opener vs. Northeastern.
 
In addition, Tina Charles will be presented a ball to recognize her becoming just the third player in UConn history to record 1,000 rebounds, which was also accomplished in the season-opening win over Northeastern.

 

UCONN AS NO. 1:  UConn is  235-11 (.955) all-time when playing as the nation’s No. 1 ranked team in the Associated Press Top 25.
 
The Huskies most recent loss when ranked No. 1 came on April 6, 2008 vs. Stanford.

 

Countdown to 700 For Geno:  UConn head coach Geno Auriemma enters Friday’s game vs. Hofstra with 699 career wins – one shy of 700 for his career.
 
Auriemma is looking to become the 11th coach in NCAA Division I history (who have spent a minimum of 10 seasons in Division I) to reach 700 career wins.
 
Auriemma’s winning percentage of .851 (699-122) ranks as the best among active NCAA Division I head coaches.

Huskies Own Regular Season Tournament Play:  Connecticut enters the 2009 WBCA Classic owning a streak 12 straight titles at in-season tournaments.

The Huskies defeated Washington, Northern Colorado and Florida State en route to the 2008 Caribbean Classic title in Cancun, last season and previously claimed the 20087 Paradise jam Title in St. Thomas, U.S.V.I. with wins over Stanford, Old Dominion and Duke.
 
Prior to that, UConn claimed the 2005 Preseason WNIT Title with wins over Marist, Indiana State, Boston College and Oklahoma.
 
The Huskies won the 2002 Rainbow Wahine Classic in Honolulu, the 2001 Preseason WNIT, Four in the Fall Tournament in 1998 in San Jose, Calif., the 1997 Preseason WNIT, the 1996 Connecticut Classic, the 1995 Rainbow Wahine Classic in Honolulu, the 1995 Central Fidelity Invitational in Richmond, Va., the 1995 Connecticut Classic and the 1994 Connecticut Classic.
 
The last time that UConn failed to claim an in-season tournament title came back during the 1992-93 when it dropped a game to Vanderbilt on Dec. 29, 1992 at the Hilton Head (S.C.) Super Shootout.

UConn has won each of its last 37 games that it has played at in-season tournaments.
 
An in-season tournament is defined as any event in which Connecticut played more than one game en route to the championship.

 

HUSKIES IN NOVEMBER: The Huskies own an all-time mark of 88-14 (.863) in games played in the month of November.

The last time UConn dropped a game in the 11th month came on Nov. 21, 2004 at the Jimmy V Classic, when the Huskies fell 71-65 to North Carolina.
 
UConn has won 23 consecutive games in the month of November.

 

ALL-TIME VS. HOFSTRA: Friday’s game between UConn and Hofstra will mark the second all-time meeting between the programs in the sport of women’s basketball.
 
The Huskies own an all-time lead of 1-0 in the series with the Pride with the lone previous meeting coming on Dec. 22, 2005 - an 86-49 Connecticut win.

 

ALL-TIME VS. RICHMOND: Saturday’s game between UConn and Richmond will mark the second all-time meeting between the programs in the sport of women’s basketball.

The Huskies own an all-time lead of 1-0 in the series with the Spiders with the lone previous meeting coming on Nov. 13, 2006 - an 84-50 Connecticut win.

 

ALL-TIME VS. CLEMSON: Sunday’s game between UConn and Clemson will mark the fourth all-time meeting between the programs in the sport of women’s basketball.

The Huskies own an all-time lead of 2-1 in the series with the Tigers with the most recent meeting coming on March 19, 2000 - an 83-45 Connecticut win in the second round of the 2000 NCAA Tournament.
 
UConn lone loss to the Tigers also came in NCAA play - a 61-59 setback on March 17, 1990 in the second round of the 1990 NCAA Tournament - which also marks the Huskies’ last NCAA Tournament loss at Gampel Pavilion.
 
Sunday’s game between UConn and Clemson will mark the first time the programs have met outside of the NCAA Tournament.

 

ALL-TIME VS. COLONIAL ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION:  Friday’s game vs. Hofstra will represent UConn’s 14th all-time against a member of the CAA and its second this season following its 105-35 win over Northeastern in the season opener on Nov. 14.
 
The Huskies own an all-time mark of 13-1 against CAA opponents with the last lone loss coming against Old Dominion on Feb. 13, 1999.

 

ALL-TIME VS. Atlantic-10:  Saturday’s game vs. Richmond will represent UConn’s 70th all-time against a member of the A-10.
 
The Huskies own an all-time mark of 32-37 against A-10 opponents with the last lone loss coming against Old Dominion on Feb. 13, 1999.
 
While the A-10 in the lone league that boasts an all-time winning record against connecticut, the Huskies have not dropped a contest to an A-10 opponent since losing to St. Joseph’s 65-52 on Dec. 28, 1987.

 

ALL-TIME VS. ACC:  Sunday’s game vs. Clemson will represent UConn’s 43rd all-time against a member of the ACC and its first of four games scheduled against ACC opponents this season (Florida State, North Carolina, Duke).
 
The Huskies own an all-time mark of 29-13 against ACC opponents with the last lone loss coming against North Carolina on Jan. 15, 2007.
