STORRS, Conn. – The top-ranked University of Connecticut women’s basketball team returns from final exams to take on LSU on Monday, December 21 at the XL Center.  Fans can still take advantage of the LSU Holiday Special, which includes a game ticket, a soft drink and a hot dog for only $15.   UConn enters the game with an 8-0 mark while LSU (6-4) will play on Friday at Rutgers.

The Huskies are also asking that fans please bring a new, unwrapped toy with them on Monday to donate to the United States Marine Corps’ Toys for Tots program.  USMC and UConn representatives will be collecting donations at the XL Center main entrance, beginning at 5:30 p.m.  The XL Center main entrance is located on Trumbull Street in downtown Hartford.

Senior forward Breanna Stewart leads four Huskies averaging in double-figure points at 22.9 points per game.  The North Syracuse, N.Y. native became the first player in NCAA women’s basketball history to record at least 300 blocks and 300 steals on Wednesday, December 9.  She enters Monday’s contest in seventh place on UConn’s all-time scoring list and only 13 points of tying Diana Taurasi for sixth all-time.

Senior forward Morgan Tuck has been outstanding this season and especially so over the last two games.  The Bolingbrook, Ill. native is averaging 19.0 points per game and is shooting 78.3 percent from the floor over the Huskies last two contests, which includes wins over Colgate and No. 11/9 Florida State.

UConn, which ranks in the top five nationally in six statistical categories, is 6-1 all-time against LSU.  The Huskies’ lone loss to the Lady Tigers came in the 2007 Fresno Regional Final, a 73-50 setback to the Sylvia Fowles-led Lady Tigers.  Since that loss, UConn has won 13-straight games against SEC teams, including three against LSU.
