LINCOLN, Nebraska – Coming off its sixth win against ranked opponents this year, the No. 1/1 UConn women’s basketball team will face Nebraska on the road Wednesday, Dec. 21 at Pinnacle Bank Arena. Tip-off is scheduled for 9 p.m.
Wednesday’s game will be televised regionally on the Big 10 Network with radio coverage on the UConn/IMG Radio Network.
The Huskies (10-0) are coming off an 82-63 victory over No. 12 Ohio State Monday, extending their second longest win streak in program history to 85 games. Monday’s win marked the sixth ranked opponent in which UConn had defeated this season.
Sophomore Napheesa Collier (O’Fallon, Mo.) led the team with 27 points, followed closely by classmate Katie Lou Samuelson (Huntington Beach, Calif.) who finished with 26 points for the second consecutive contest.
UConn is 2-0 all-time against Nebraska after defeating the Huskers 88-46 last season at the XL Center. The two met on only one other occasion in November of 1997 where the Huskies won by 10 at home. UConn is 2-0 all-time at Pinnacle Bank Arena, defeating BYU and Texas A&M en route to winning the 2014 NCAA Lincoln Regional.
Nebraska (4-7) is 1-7 of their last eight games with sole win against San Jose State. The Huskers are coming off a most recent loss to Creighton, who walked away with an 80-64 decision Sunday. Sophomore Jessica Shepard led the Huskers with her third consecutive double-double and sixth of the season with 22 points and 11 rebounds. She averages the team bests of 19.4 points and 11.1 rebounds and owns 16 career double-doubles for the Huskers.
