The No. 2 Connecticut women's basketball team is set to take on top-ranked Stanford on Saturday at 4 p.m. at a sold out Maples Pavilion in Stanford, Calif. The top-two showdown will be televised on ESPNU with Dave O'Brien, Doris Burke and Rebecca Lobo on the call. The nation's best will each put their undefeated records on the line as the Cardinal (11-0) and the Huskies (10-0) both have been perfect coming into Saturday's game.
Saturday's game marks the 17th time UConn will play in a game between the nation's top two ranked teams in the Associated Press top-25 poll. The Huskies are 13-3 all-time in those games, and 10-1 when ranked No. 1. Prior to last year's loss at Baylor, the Huskies had won each of the last eight games they have played pitting the nation's 1-2 ranked teams.
The Huskies and Cardinal have played each other 13 times with Connecticut owning a 7-6 all-time mark. However, the Huskies are still searching for their first win at Maples Pavilion heading into the game with a 0-3 mark all-time mark.
Leading UConn is this week's BIG EAST Freshman of the Week Breanna Stewart who is averaging 16.9 points per game and has knocked in 20 or more points in five out of her first 10 games as a Husky. Stewart also leads the squad in rebounding and blocks with 7.2 and 1.6 per game, respectively.
