UConn has posted a victory in each of its last six season openers and improves its overall record in the all-time series vs. Sacred Heart to a perfect 4-0.

The Huskies dominated play throughout the contest as they out-shot the Pioneers 32-1 and attempted seven penalty corners  while limiting Sacred Heart to just a single attempt.

Aird wasted no time in setting the tone for the afternoon as she buried a shot just 3:37 into the contest to give the Huskies’ an early 1-0 advantage.

Senior Lindsey Leck (Clarksburg, N.J.) added the second of Connecticut’s four first-half goals at the 8:43 mark with a blast off a feed from sophomore Melissa Gonzalez (Mohegan Lake, N.Y.).  Aird added her second tally off a setup from Leck at 9:45, to give the Huskies a three-goal advantage less than 10 minutes into the match.

Silverman closed out UConn’s first-half scoring outburst with the first goal of her collegiate career following a cross from fellow freshman Jill Kleeblad (Naarden, Holland) at 28:19.

The Huskies will return to action on Monday, Sept. 1 when they play host to Maine in a 12:00 p.m. (ET) start at the George J. Sherman Family Sports Complex.
