No. 6 Field Hockey Beats Quinnipiac 6-1

With the win Connecticut improves to 10-1 overall.  Quinnipiac slips to 2-7 following the loss and have lost nine consecutive meetings with the Huskies.

UConn buried the Bobcats early with a four-goal outburst over the opening 26 minutes, led by Leck's pair.  Senior Lauren Aird (Harare, Zimbabwe) registered her team-best ninth goal of the season just 3:25 into the contest beating two Quinnipiac defenders along the way. 

Freshman Jill Kleeblad (Naarden, Holland) increased the lead to 2-0 at 18:43 when she tipped home a shot from Aird.

Leck followed with two goals over a span of less than four minutes to increase the margin to 4-0.

Lauren Hartnett got Quinnipiac on the board with a goal off a feed from Lauren Kuchmak to make the score 4-1 at halftime.

Gonzalez rounded out the game's scoring with two scores in the second half.  The first coming off an assist from Jennifer Kleinhans (Mannheim, Germany) at 44:58 before adding her second unassisted less than four minutes later to account for the final 6-1 margin.

For the game, UConn outshot Quinnipiac 28-6 and attempted nine penalty corners to the Bobcats' four opportunities.

The Huskies continue their current homestand with a BIG EAST meeting against Georgetown on Saturday, Oct. 4 at the George J. Sherman Family Sports Complex at 12:00 p.m. (ET).
