On the Excitement of Today’s Game
The last three games have been so exciting, winning in overtime against Louisville in the BIG EAST semifinals and then beating Syracuse for the BIG EAST Championship in the last 16-seconds of the game to win the championship after being two goals down; and now this! Obviously, we would have liked to wrap it up sooner but we’ll take a great win.
On the intensity of both teams
It’s a matter of not giving into frustration because we generated 30 shots on offense. But in our sport, if the goaltender is playing great and the defense in front of her is playing great, the ball, often times, is hard to put into the net. We out-shot them 30-7 we should have won the game so I’m glad we the outcome went our way. But I have to say, Northeastern’s goalie played terrific and they played great defense today.
On Goaltender Sarah Mansfield
Sarah is an All-American for us and she is very fortunate because she has three senior backs in front her. So these are players with a great deal of experience and many times they can make her look even better.
On the Penalty Corner Execution Against Northeastern
There are always different facets of the game you evaluate and today our corner execution was not good. Was it because Northeastern’s goaltender was outstanding? Yeah, you have to give her a lot of credit. But we have to be better on corner execution so that will be a focal point for us going into tomorrow’s game.

Reflect on the Season and Today’s Game
I’m so proud of this team, there is no doubt there are a few more wins we should have had this season but they fought every single game. What more can you ask of a team than to do that. It shows what kind of team are as we were without Crystal Poland, who is one of our best players and I’m proud the team came together and played as well as they did today.
Talk about Poland being out
One of the things I love about this team is its mental toughness. They haven’t had too many highs or too many lows. And they were resilient and had great attitudes about this. They were extremely sad for Crystal but they came together and put forth a great effort.
On the Play that Resulted in the Game-Winner
Bolles is a really good player and got a really good running start and we knew she would try to set up one of her teammates for a goal. That’s just what she did. I thought we did a pretty good job for most of the game keeping her from doing that but she is a great player and you really need to stop her.
