2011 NCAA Tournament First Round Postgame Quotes Princeton Head Coach Kristen Holmes-Winn

On adjustments made at halftime:

"UConn had an exceptional first half and their midfield was tremendous. We had a hard time getting meaningful ball pressure which hurt us. In the second half we were able to make some adjustments to match up a little bit better at midfield. I thought UConn was great today but I was happy to see my team get it together and play better in the second half."

On achieving goals they had set for the season:

"We had a lot to overcome--we lost four players to the national team who will fortunately be back next year, so we had some big holes to fill. We didn't talk a whole lot about the NCAA tournament during the season; we took it day by day. We focused a lot on how to fill the voids and our think our team did an exceptional job with that. I think we were able to exceed everyone's expectations."

UConn Head Coach Nancy Stevens

On sophomore forward (#23) Anna Jeute (two second half goals):

"Anna is one of the best midfielders in the country and a real spark offensively for us. I have to say everyone on our team played great and this was one of our best performances of the season. Anna has a lot of support from her teammates."

On UConn's defensive performance (two shots allowed):

"They were great, especially in the first half when they allowed no shots. That was outstanding. We have a veteran defense between the three senior backs and the senior back midfielder that we start. They played very well today."

On what still needs to be improved to improve their chances of winning the championship:

"We would like a shutout. We feel that we're good enough in goal and have enough experience on defense that we can do that. If we get a shutout, then you can't lose."
